Manslaughter Crimes
Manslaughter & Vehicular Manslaughter Criminal Defense Lawyers
Experienced & Knowledgeable San Diego Manslaughter Representation
My law firm has handled numerous manslaughter cases throughout San Diego. Manslaughter is the unlawful killing of another person without the intent to kill. Generally, there are three categories of manslaughter cases-Voluntary, Involuntary and vehicular.
Voluntary manslaughter usually occurs in the heat of passion or sudden impulse while involuntary occurs when you commit an unlawful act which ordinarily does not end up hurting someone. Vehicular manslaughter is when someone is killed during a traffic accident and law enforcement opines that you caused the accident by violating a provision of the vehicle code-reckless driving, speeding.
Vehicular manslaughter can also be deemed “gross” when the driving was extremely negligent and or “while intoxicated” when the driver’s blood alcohol level exceeds the legal limit. Sentences are much more severe for those convicted for gross vehicular manslaughter or manslaughter while drive intoxicated. Likewise, Police accident investigation officers are concluding, more often than not, that any fatality in a traffic accident is a vehicular manslaughter case.Accordingly, vehicular manslaughter criminal filings are on the rise!
Like murder cases, manslaughter cases are extremely emotional to all parties involved. Someone has lost a loved one and the client commonly feel s as though they have done nothing wrong-“the accident wasn’t my fault!” The criminal defense lawyers in my firm thoroughly investigate all aspects of manslaughter cases including the retaining of an accident reconstruction expert, interviewing witnesses, and examining medical records. As in all my cases, the criminal lawyers in my firm will keep you well informed of our investigation and let you know how your case is proceeding.
If you have been arrested for a manslaughter or vehicular manslaughter charge it is imperative that you invoke your right to remain silent and not provide a statement to law enforcement. Remember, this silence cannot be used against you! The best way to protect your rights is to speak with and retain an experienced and knowledgeable criminal defense lawyer. That’s where my firm comes in.
